Yesterday was the first time I've tackled adding a new switch. Switch was a MICTUNING rocker switch for my new ditch lights. The rocker switch wouldn't fit in the OEM blank spot (that is next to the power inverter switch for the outlet in the bed) so I used a dremel with a sander to make the blank bigger. Was able to fit the rocker switch but now the switch for the bed outlet wont work (wont even illuminate with headlights on).

I looked at the switch and to me it appears I may have accidentally sanded part of the switch which is why it isn't working. Anyone know if I did infact sand the switch down and ruin it or if I should check the wiring? From what I found, a replacement power inverter switch is around $145 from Toyota. Dont wanna pay that much if it's likely a wiring issue.

Im a noob when it comes to cars and Tacomas and this is my first time doin something like this lol jusy looking for a bit of guidance before i throw $100+ on a new switch

Looks like your rotary tool shat-out some hot molten plastic shards into the circuitry of the switch. Try blowing some of it out with compressed air and try again in case the plastic wedged itself into a contact location; else I think it’s fried.

Try to clean up that switch, doesn't appear damaged, hopefully you can get it working.

Below is a guide from Meso Customs on switch styles. There are aftermarket switches that fit OEM sockets. Meso also has custom panels for that location.

For the AC Outlet switch it’s not going to be a direct replacement with a standard small Toyota switch, unfortunately.
