Replacement Tailgate?

Did a search and didn't really see anything. I'm wondering what options there are for replacing the tailgate on a 2nd gen? These 2 from Wilco are the only ones I've ever seen, and the prices are absurd. It seems like there has to be more options out there. Anybody have any other options they can share/link? Thanks

There are generic new replacements on Ebay. IIRC there was a thread here about someone buying one that was painted body color by the vendor.

 

Wilco cornered the market from what I recall. And yes I agree, the price is garbage but that’s what happens when you have no competition. You could have someone fab you a 1 of for 1/3 to 1/2 the cost easy.

another fab outfit made something very similar years ago then got told to stop iirc.

 

My son has that excat type of Wilco tailgate on his Dodge Power Wagon and can tell you first hand, they are absolutely rock solid. The price is what it is, but the materials and build quality is outstanding. You will not be able to hurt this thing without some other part of the truck bed failing first IMO.
