One of the ONLY gripes I have with my Taco is no USB or Aux ports on the stock radio.

There's a guy selling the stock JBL receiver only on here.

My question is would I have any issues swapping the JBL receiver for the non-JBL receiver in order to gain an aux port?

So the JBL receiver is incompatible with the non-JBL stock speakers?

So I guess I'd go with my original plan and just mod my current stock receiver with an aux port. Thanks for the input, nice to have that pointed out.

What year do you have? You could just get a Kenwood or Pioneer unit with bluetooth, aux input, nav, etc...

Would those aftermarket receivers with all the bells and whistles need any custom wire work or would the stock harness just plug into an adapter harness for the new receiver?

I am a complete newbie in these areas, thanks for the help.

If you order from Crutchfield, they will give you the correct harness for free.

I generally try to find factory refurbs on eBay though..

You can also get a PAC-SWI to integrate your steering wheel controls.

Thinking about doing a Sony DSX-A40UI from crutchfield. I don't have steering wheel controls, so the total price would be around $85 installation kit and harness included.

Any reason besides preference on that kit?

    Op,
What is your budget? For around $300 or $400 you could get a great after market head unit and install it yourself. If you get it from crutch field you get everything you need to install. If you aren't color blind you can do it all yourself without any extra tools except maybe a wire stripper. I just did this myself and I had zero electrical experience.

The budget is in question until I run it by the wife tonight, most likely going to be $100 or under, which is why the cheap Sony with no CD Player is perfect for me, I don't listen to CDs at all and mostly listen to my iPhone.

Is the harness and kit you get with the crutchfield purchase pretty much just a plug and play?

If you are using the kit from crutchfield you just need to strip the ends of some wires, twist them together and then use the posi connects they give you. There are some good threads on here with instructions for taking out and replacing the stereo. Just have everything you need ahead of time and connect the wire harness before you take the factory stereo out.

The adapter kit harness plugs into the factory wiring. The other end is bare wire. You will need to splice it to the plug that comes with the new head unit. Generally just matching wire colors and using wire nuts.
