Looking for an update - have you actually strapped down and taken the boats out with this setup? I'm concerned they're a bit close together...

Yes I have. You are concerned about what being too close together, the crossbars? My previous pic shows the yak sitting in position I'm not sure how spacing would be an issue.

I took 2 boats out last weekend strapped to the single Yakima Jaylow and it worked perfectly, very easy to load/unload.

Excellent, thank you! Any water leakage through the drilled holes?

    No problem.

Zero issues at all with the setup, if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change anything. I'll pickup another Jaylow so I can haul 4 yaks across down the road.

Probably not recommended, but I even stood on the bars above the mounting bracket on the passenger side when I was loading green one back on at the lake and no issues (harder to reach the second yak).

Had a Rhino rack on my 14 Camry. Well built! Mine however howled like a mofo. The underside is notched and would let air blow through that caused howling, LOAD howling. I ended up taking Gorilla take and wrapping the entire bars in it. Howl gone.

I wonder if that has been resolved since I purchased my bars earlier this year?

I don't hear them unloaded, with the Jaylow and yaks on it was quiet but I do get a little whistle with the Jaylow unloaded and folded down. I plan to take the yaks out once a week or more over the summer so that whistle isn't enough to remove them between take outs.

Previously on my Subaru loading one kayak with paddles on factory bars was unbearable, I could never get it in a position where it didn't hum and I hated it. I will personally never use the paddles again, let alone being restricted to 1 kayak carry.

Also could be just how the air flows over the vehicle. This truck pushes more wind than the 35mpg camry that cut through it. Probably a lot more air flow over the top and close to the body on the Camry

So do these screw into the factory holes, or did they have to drill additional holes?

Since my truck was brand new at the time I paid for the install as Rhino Rack warantees against leaks, they have to remove the trim on the roof and they had preset rivot points that they used on the roof line. I believe they used rivots in the factory holes.

Thanks. I will look into this and see if it is something that might work for me. I have looked into Thule or Yakima but don't want to have those clamps on the sides.

Exactly why I didn’t go with them myself. I appreciate the higher load capacity also, I stand on them when loading kayaks and it’s very stable.

Another selling point for Rhino was the crossbars being removable. I did that a couple times when I first got it because it was primarily for kayaks in the summer but at this point they’ve been on over a year now it isn't worth the hassle remove and store them so I just leave them on. The look has just become part of the truck, it’s naked to me without them on at this point.

HD bars or aero bars? I have the HD bars (for weight capacity) and have a good whistle, but it only howls with moon roof open. Some type of air pressure thing. I bought extra rubber that sits in the top of the bar and put it in the bottom and it didn't change the whistle at all. I kind of think it's coming from the ends where they are open.

FYI, I am a carpenter and carry lineal stuff so a basket style rack with a front lip wasnt an option for me.

Who did you use to do the install? Was it a dealer or an off-road specialty store?

It was a dealer for the product. A local store called “Rack ‘N Roll”

All they do is sell and install roof rack products and accessories, they also have Thule and Yakima so it was easy to compare them all in one place. Also very knowlagable.

    Ok. Thanks for the info.
I'm pretty handy but when I start thinking about drilling holes + cost of tools that I don't already have, I think letting a pro do it is the way to go.

The J racks work on the Prinsu style rack. All attachments that would go on the rhino work on the Prinsu.

Do these mount into the factory threaded holes or you had to drill?

I am not sure, I had it installed at a local shop that specializes in selling/installing roof rack and accessories.
