I'm experiencing loud road noise on some of the local pavements. Stock Michelin LTX MS2 highway tires on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Some surfaces are okay but a few locations are awfully loud.
Has anyone done any successful sound deadening and what did you do?

Gut the interior apply sound deadening TO EVERYTHING replace interior & don't install Yokohama geolander tires ever again like I did
    Problem solved

Here is the obligatory 'it's a truck, not a Lexus' answer.

    Which is true.

Turn the juke box up, turn your hearing aids down or spend a couple of days and a few hundred bucks doing the sound deadener thing @JEFFRPM mentions

Nature of the beast unfortunately. I can definitely tell the difference between road surfaces, but none of them are so loud where it's annoying. Unless you add sound deadening material or replace your tires with something more quiet than OEM, it pretty much is what it is.

How many dB are you at when you consider it loud?

Don't know the exact dB but it can be loud enough to drown out the conversations sometimes.

Try different tires. Not a tire expert, but apparently the tread pattern is what causes a lot of that. My General Grabbers are surprisingly quiet and they say it is due to the offset irregular(??) block pattern. Coupled with the 1kW amp under my seat and 10" sub in the back i don't really hear the road, and I enjoy classical music with lots of quiet passages.

Can't expect the quietness of an Avalon if you're driving a Tacoma.
It is a truck after all.

I’ll bet the emergency services love you. Between some vehicles proudly advertising that you can’t hear anything outside the car and idiots with ear buds things are getting bad. I’ve watched people driving down the street oblivious to big red trucks right behind them.

I sound deadened the hell out of mine and it was worth every single second! Noico foil backed butyl on the inside of the door skins, 315mil foam on the vapor barriers, butyl then foam on the roof and back wall. Focus on the front edge of the roof and around the door handles. It doesn't sound like a tin can in the rain or when I close the door. I was concerned about doing all of that then hearing all the wind noise from the glass but it's not an issue whatsoever. Supposedly 2020+ got acoustically improved glass. Next is the floor, lower firewall and engine bay.

I worked EMS for 20 years. Those people have been around for ages, but a good air horn blast at close range will usually cut through just about anything and wake them up. How they react when you do that is another story entirely. It's not all about sound, it means they are not checking their mirrors regularly either. Only did it a couple of times but if it was really bad I got on the radio gave the vehicle info to the police and had them pulled over and cited for failure to yield. My boss hated when I did that because the police would make me sign the summons since the cop didn't witness the infraction.

It's got to be the tires because it all depends on the road surface. On some of the newly repaved roads it's very quiet, then hit a rough section and it sounds like a gas fired industrial heater firing up.
Unfortunately, the old wallet says changing tires is a no-no right now.
Was hoping for some magic, cheap answer.
