    Hello all,

Currently i have a 2009 Tacoma Access Cab (Long Box) with a Leer 100XL Topper on it, which came with the truck when i bought it, last year. My problem is, I'm wanting to buy a RTT for the upcoming summer season as last summer was terrible sleeping in the topper, it was extremely cold at night and when i woke up, despite having 2 fans blowing air in and out, it was extremely hot. So I've found a groupbuy for a RTT that's in my area but when looking at the math of this all it doesn't seem like it will work.

    The tent weighs 136LBS
    i weigh 190LBS (x2 for 2 people)
    so we have 516LBS TOTAL

annnnnnnnddd my topper is rated (according to Leer's website) for 150LBS dynamic weight. Does anyone know what the "static" weight would be?

Can someone provide some insight onto if it's a bad idea to mount it on my topper, I've heard mixed feelings from multiple people and really don't want to ruin a $1000 topper.

If this doesn't work, is there another cheap mounting solution i can do without removing the topper? Since i have an access cab i don't have pre-drilled roof rail holes and don't really want to drill into my roof.

I wish I took a picture of the guy I bought his sleeping platform from. He had a long bed with the largest CVT tent on top of a top cap. Yes it over hung the cab and the back of the cap. Him his wife and two kids slept great in it. You’ll be fine. Can’t give you specifics but there’s a lot of people on here that have them on caps. I’d suggest bed stiffeners tho!
