haha, I had tube steps on my 08 (factory), and the only thing they were good for is kicking my boots against to get the mud and snow off before getting in.

 

Thanks for the input. The most compelling reason I'm hearing is to prevent dings from other car door. I'm all about preventing dings and scratches. Agreed that they would seem to be a debris catcher though.

 

That's the main reason I got mine. Mine also keep a lot of stuff from getting thrown up off the road on the side of the truck. I've yet to have stuff be on top of them other than mud from the bottom of my boots.

 

Why is debris catching a bad thing. Without them, where is the debris going and what's going to happen to the paint on your doors when the debris gets there ? A+ for you... that's right, stone chips !

 

I like the look of them...PLUS my GF is all of 4'10 and cant get into the truck without them...So I got the OEM all black tube versions

 

I hate to sound stupid but what are sliders? Any pictures?

 

trail armor to protect your rocker panels and undercarriage. instead of your trucks panels rubbing against a rock or tree it will hit these and slide. also can protect your truck during high centering. the first non-factory mod that i did! mine are allpro. bolt directly to frame. can support the weight of the truck on a hi-lift . also can prevent door dings

 

I bought the Limited and they come standard. I am about ready to take them off, even though they cost $600+ WHy? They are in the way when I get out. My wife hates them too, as they scrape her legs when she gets out. They are not in the right place to use either getting in or getting out. I am 5'9" and my wife is 5'3" and we neither one use them EVER. I don't think they even make it look better just having them on. I will have to see if they come off easily. Oh I am not going to ever do OFF ROAD with a $40,000 + new truck. Just not going to do it. Seems silly to me, but then I am 70 yrs old too. I am old but not ancient.

 

I'm an "on road" Taco driver. 2 wheel drive, daily driver. I drive it to work and park it in a high rise parking garage.

My wife and my female coworkers love the bars. They like the ability to step on the bars and get in and out of the truck.

I also like the fact that they protect my doors from dings.

Just my two cents.

 

I put a set on specifically for knocking dirt and mud off my feet. Rains a lot in Florida and I live and play in the woods.


I also notice they keep the sides of the truck a bit cleaner on these country dirt roads, but they get dirty real fast, so some might have a problem with that.

I do agree, mine anyway, are positioned too close to the cab for them to be useful as a "step". But if they were closer to the ground it would limit clearance a lot more.

For what I wanted they are great. Boot knocker bars. Steps? Not so much.
