curious why you would go with the plastic over the aluminum?

I’m seriously considering factory oem now since lower priced gen 2 boards fit.
    Trying to find something economical.

    Do it !!!

My running boards, like the rest of my truck's undercarriage, receive an annual coating of WoolWax. Zero rust.

This here for sure. My truck came with these on it (port installed), and I couldn't get them to sell me the truck without them. So I took them off as soon as I pulled in the driveway and sold them on FB for $400. There are always a few pairs of brand new take offs out there at less than 1/2 price, I assume for the same reason I sold mine. But if you like the look and want running boards, they are well made and look pretty decent. Just wasn't my thing.

simple question, coming from someone that was specifically called out in another entirely-unrelated thread for having running boards instead of sliders...

i now better understand that around here, keeping running boards on my truck is extremely uncouth, and makes me the anti-truck truck owner around here, but i'd like to take the opportunity to better educate myself on my past errors.

to clarify, i live in northern FLAT indiana. the nearest off road park is 2 hours away, and i have no intention of ever bringing my truck there. i bought a truck specifically for the cargo carrying ability, 4wd is to be used in snow. the most mud my trucks gotten on it is when i clipped the corner of my driveway and ran across the grass shortly after it rained.

what benefits do sliders offer for getting groceries?

    visiting the zoo?

travelling on paved roads to and from work?

do they make my truck faster?

does my chances of winning the lottery improve?

    does my gas mileage improve?

do people allow you to merge into traffic faster with them?

if the only 'rock' my truck will ever see is in the form of pebbles that form the shoulder of county roads, why do i need to spend a significant amount of cash on rock sliders over the running boards i currently own and paid for already? because i just don't understand why the selection i made can't work the way it's been working for me, but everyone says it can't be working for me as well as rock sliders seem to work...
