With full disclosure about rust you may get $1,500
If you steal $6,000 from an enthusiastic novice car buyer be prepared for Karma to take a hot fat crap on your entire life. :smack:

Most I paid for a rotted truck was 4500 and it had a supercharger and only 94k miles.
6 will be very hard to get a buyer for I’m guessing

At this point that truck shouldn't be on the road and should not be sold as a truck that can be registered. 6k is a crack pipe starting point for a rusted frame truck let alone a 4cyl auto one.

True, but I wouldn’t tackle a project like this in a driveway. I think listing it for 6 is fine as long as you’re clear about the condition. You know the offers are gonna be 50% of ask, so start high.

Exactly what I planned on happening. I know I’m not getting 6k for it, but with the car market right now, it makes sense not too. I’m thinking around 5-6 because people were offering me that before seeing it before the winter when I posted it on Facebook. The frame is still solid it just has those spots. I’ve been driving it for a year with no problems, and I’m sure anyone that has it will be able to drive is for another year or two before anything major happens. I’m not just gonna give it away for someone because of the frame.

You're joking right? That frame is "solid"? That's like saying I'm totally healthy except for the cancer.

Your frame is toast. If you sell it, it's a parts truck and nothing more.

I don't know if Illinois has vehicle inspections but any state that does would instantly fail that thing.

Since I’m going to be getting rid of this truck one way or another soon, does anyone have good advice or good places to look for 1st gen tacomas or even 3rd gen 4Runners? I use Facebook and Craigslist a little bit but can’t seem to find much. I also don’t want to deal with this frame issue again, considering it’s “toast” and I “shouldn’t be driving it”.

Southwest regions.... No rust issues to contend with unless it spent it's life on the coast. Either way be sure to check the frame

Your best bet is Facebook. And driving south. Avoid all the trucks around here. They will meet a same fate

As long as you make this issue very clear to the buyer I don't see an issue with asking a high number. But you should point that out because it is definitely lacking structural integrity.

No advice at finding a 1st gen other than persistence. Took me a few months of daily searching on facebook, craigslist, dealer sites etc. and I think I lucked out on that timeline for the current market. However I also got one with 225k miles and plenty of rust (but frame was replaced). I'm in Milwaukee so same rust belt boat as OP.

$1,500 is exactly what I would pay. And that's only because I have the this under the house and the time and know how to fix it.

Asking $6,000 is ok just disclose everything and understand that your probably going to get $2,000 and that's going to be from @Empty_Lord

Get this one. Have the guy bring it out here when you're picking up the one that I gave to Miguel.
