Scope adjustment in AZ

I got a Ak-47 with scope. Is off. I need somebody in Phoenix area that can help me adjust it . Between the date 01-01-2010 & 01-03-2010

 

Have you tried doing it yourself? I'm not trying to sound rude, but it might be worth a shot, huh, no pun intended.

Start with a big piece of paper at 50 yards, and get something stable to shoot off of. Put a black dot dead center of the paper. A 5' x 5' piece of paper should be big enough unless it's WAY bad off (as in outside of the adjustability of the optic), in which case take it to a gun store and have them bore sight it. Take a ruler, and measure how far L/R, or Up/Down you're off with the first shot, then dial that in on the scope. Keep in mind that a click that is 1/4" at 100 yards will be 1/8" at 50 yards, 1" at 100 yards will be 1/2" at 50 yards, etc. Repeat until you're consistent. I'm not sure about the accuracy of your AK, but I would think you should be getting a sub 10 moa group (5" at 50 yards) if you're consistent and have a good stable platform.

 

What kind of scope is it? Red dot, standard rifle scope? As xodeuce said not to be rude but zeroing a scope is one of the simplest and easiest operations that u can do to a firearm. Your only problem is getting it boresighted. Buy a collimator or spend 10 bucks at a gun shop and have them do it for u. From there just follow xodeuce's advice to zero it.

 

That's the problem. I try doing my self and I can't do it.

 

The scope is Ncstar 4x30. I need somebody that knows what is doing. I am willing to pay to get it done.

Are you a good shooter? That could be the problem. Sighting in a scope is simple, If you are 100% sure in the way you shoot.
Meaning you would have a problem if you are not doing the same exact thing every time you pull the trigger.

 

Is the issue that you cannot even see the bullet impact on the paper or you can see the impact but it's not inline with the crosshairs? With a 4x scope you have a pretty wide field of view so you should be able to at least see the the bullet impact. If you can see it but turning the elevation and windage knobs doesn't change anything then the scope is defective. If you CANNOT see the bullet impact at all then it's not boresighted. If you don't want to spend the money to get this done, move up to 25 yds. and try sighting it in. At this distance if you still can't see it hit then ur scope is completely mounted incorrectly or your firing blanks

 

I had a different scope and that one was good. I had it replacet. I will go tommorow and do some shooting and see if I can do it.

 

Another thing. Once you're sighted in it's important to know how repeatable your scope adjustments are. Get it zeroed and shooting where point of impact = point of aim. After that you do what I call "shooting the box." Adjust 5 clicks down and five clicks left. One shot. Then adjust ten clicks up. One shot. Adjust ten clicks right. One shot. Adjust ten clicks down. One shot. Then adjust five clicks up and five clicks left, and one final shot. What you should have is 4 holes forming a square, with a fifth hole dead center of that square. If any of this isn't repeatable then the precision of the optic comes into question.

 

I was going to point out the fact that it's n NC Star probably has something to do with it.

 

If you tried it the right way and it's not holding zero then either the mounts are loose or the scope is broke.

One exception is if you're using a bullet that is too heavy for the rifling to stabilize.

 

Yeah... I was thinking the same thing myself, but didn't want to dis his setup before zeroing procedure error was ruled out.
