A potentially more fun approach might be all of:

1. DRL: white in front turn spot full bright
2. Turn: amber flash front and sidemarker full bright
3. Parking light: amber front and sidemarker dim, flash overrides

That setup would need a switchback in the turn slot and a DRL signal wire and a relay or tow module to combine parking light and turn into a single output.

Ok then start building a kit… Even a low yellow light should be better than nothing. I purchased DD yellow back light POS lights because they advertise them like they could be seen. But they are absolutely worthless in the daylight. And can only be seen at night, what a waste! Now watch a CrashNBurn fan boy get on here a defend DD…
Oh as for the headlights I just purchased the factory Toyota chrome ones for just over $160 each without bulbs the smoked ones are about $10 more. I have a set of the newer LED taillights I’m going to install and they are bright so I decided just to get the bright chrome and have a lid painted on them like on our 07 below. The expensive part was the painted honeycomb grill & $270 plus tax.
Also not a light thing but a safety & bling thing I ordered new StopTech’s! God they are worth every penny!

 

This month is moving but down the road I hope I’ll have time to tinker once unpacked. I could do a quickie if you have a spare add a fuse if you want to try. Takes a small screwdriver to get the plug out. Wanna send a photo of your turn connectors to confirm they match mine?

 

Dave why don’t we wait because moving is such a pain in the @$$. But everyone should move every two years just to toss out stuff they never use. Plus my garage is over a 100 degrees this time of the year in convection oven AZ. That’s why you see so many AZ plates this time of the year in cool Sandy Diego.

 

So, yesterday, I attempted to put in a new engine air filter which I think I may have ordered for the Tundra as it didn't quite fit right. I snapped one of the airbox plastic mounting tabs, not one of the 2 with clips but one of the ones in the back.

@Hayrider do you know of any upgrade options for that? Or should I just replace with the same stock part? Hopefully it's possible to just order the plastic box? Seems like it'd be a relatively easy swap, just make sure battery is disconnected for the MAF sensor?

I’m guessing it’s the lower part of the box? There are many wrecking yards in Southern Cali. I would see if you can find a good used one…
As for modification for more flow (hopefully) *I* pulled out out the mess of plastic above the fender liner between the inner and outer fender. Keep the shock Airbox with a clean factory cotton air filter (Far Superior to those POS K&N style of air filters) and the first S shape hose. From there I purchased about 6” of “thin” 2.75 OD tubing and cut in half to use as sleeves for a 1 foot piece of silicone and a 90. Here’s some links plus you need a small breather filter I’m still looking for one of these. See below plus a few stainless steel hose clamps/worm clamps. Now there are others suppliers for the parts. These parts get rid of the restrictive air box on top the valve cover. The box is there to cut down noise actually both are for noise control.

Yeah, just the bottom part. I think brittle plastic b/c of AZ heat/dry/sun. So, just leave it as-is with 3.5 clips instead of 4? I'm not in so cal anymore and my time is worth the price of OEM over a trip to the junkyard but it's just plastic so it seems silly to pay $450 for something which still is OK even with a busted clip. I might try to jbweld it back on but it's a weak point...

 

Now this is the supercharged truck so on the stock 2.7 throttle body is mounted to the plastic intake that’s what the 90 is for. The hose will need to be cut down to fit cleanly. Hope this makes sense and you get the idea!

Plus I did this to help get cooler air to the air box. Don’t think you be interested in this because it now qualifies the truck to be in the next Fast and Furious movie. It’s 3.5”. I should have made it in 3” and mounted it in the front bumper next to the fog light then run the hose to the air box.

Yeah, I'm just pondering stock air box options, OEM vs aftermarket. Aftermarket new is cheap, but does it suck the same as OEM? OEM is spendy and probably not really needed since I just have half of one clip broken. Could probably just jerryrig some sort of clamping thingy.

 

Years ago I had a Jerry Hall built LT 500 Quad and love going to the dunes. I purchased a new 4x4 Nissan with there V6. Somehow I got a large gift certificate from Nissan. I couldn’t really find anything I wanted but Nissan had a new CAI system with a K&N cone filter. The box it came in sealed up against the hood when shut it looked like a really good built quality part. So I ordered and installed before a trip to the dunes that following weekend. One morning it was cold and windy so I sat in the cab of the truck with the engine idling to get warm. On the way back the truck was really running like CRAP!!! I couldn’t figure out why it was running so badly. Started looking at everything I then pulled of the new F***ing air filter to see the inlet tube full of SAND‼️ I got it cleaned up to get home. That following week I called K&N to tell them what happened and ask why. They had me mail m the filter for inspection. They never contact me back so a few weeks later I call them. They told me there was NOTHING wrong with the filter. Back to the stock cotton factory filter/s.
Never again lesson learned‼️

 

Got a cool Gentex w temp. Just need to hook up the wires in the kick panel. Super easy but slacker me hasn’t done it.

This is the takeoff, a stock 3rd gen auto dimming which never auto dimmed cause I ran a 10 pin harness instead of the Toyota 12. Free to a good home if you pay shipping.

Got some snow tires yesterday so I have sets for both Tacomas now. I’m at least prepared for the PNW on that front.

Also my dad got a 2nd Gen as well, an ‘06 from a TW guy in Honolulu.

 

Finally got my 2.5 front coilovers and TC UCA's installed yesterday. Way way way wayyyyyy better now, far less rough/stiff, though I don't have it aligned yet so I haven't really driven it hard. Just less obnoxious. I'm kinda cranky at myself for doing it wrong the first time, I should have known better.

One big problem is that AccuTune set them up super high so I'm about 2" nose up from where I want it. Which is pretty damn annoying to realize after all the back and forth with them to get these and get them dialed in, I was super clear about what I wanted and what my setup was, even went to get the truck weighed at their request. So I ordered some spring compressors and I'll attempt to adjust preload myself on the truck sometime, either that or I have to dump $600 to have a different shop deal with it which is frustrating after already paying $440 to have the first shop put them on. Oh well, at least the UCA's are done and they seem to work OK.

I could just dump money into a new leaf pack and stay high but I'm not sure I want it so tall, it feels like a pretty big step up right now, a bit too cheeseball for what I want out of this truck.

Didn’t get to the new splash guards yet but that’s high on the list.

Hey all you need to do is take about 6 full turns on the adjustment collar. Did they give you A set of spanner wrenches? Put a floor jack under the frame on one side, with pressure off the spring move the adjustment collar up on the shocks. For every full turn on the collar you move the ride hight about 1/4”. At least on every coilover I’ve adjusted has. Also can you give me the part number on the Eibach springs?
And now that you are no longer in Cali. are you interested in a Magnuson supercharger?

 

Do they make a SC for the 2.7 I4? I thought just the 4.0?

Yeah, the plan is to DIY the adjustment since a shop wants $600 to R&R. I ordered some spring compressors to add some safety since I'm not sure how loose to get the collar before attempting to turn it. They seem rather compressed right now based on threads showing so I'm thinking a little bit of extra potential insurance against trashing them is worth the $60. I don't have the tool for the collar adjustment, is there a fox part number somewhere that is worth ordering?

Yes the supercharger is on / in my truck right now! It’s being developed by LCE. I’m seriously thinking about selling it. No issues whatsoever and the truck dyno at 224 HP at the rear wheels. it’s that I found an purchase a new old stock Tremec TKO. So now this transmission needs an aluminum LS in front of it with about 400 to 450 hp.


And yea you are correct on the spring rate!

Oh, if you spend that much on new UCA and Fox shocks they should supply the wrench⁉️
Sorry buddy but I think you got screwed! I would have installed for a pizza and a pitcher of beer for you. Excuse my messy garage the storm came through the other day and had the garage door open but that’s a $700 spring compressor.

 

I might be game to try a SC. Would be nice to have some balls in that rig. Just not sure where the slippery slope ends on performance let me get the darn suspension figured out first. I can’t drive it at night right now because headlights point to the sky.

 

No photo but I did get the shift knob swapped out, yay.

Also, I caved and took it to a shop to get the preload adjusted. They tried to turn the collar on the truck and failed to get it to move so they are going to unbolt the coilovers and attempt to adjust off the truck. What a saga the whole thing is, I really should have just left things stock and swapped just the shocks.

If the Boneheads can’t turn the adjusting collars they Did Not use anti-seize & NEED to pull the coilover’s apart and use ANTI-SEIZE on the threads before they freeze together‼️
You paid a shop to put together and install and they didn’t know better.
