Sequential DRLs

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked, I did search first and didn't find what I needed.

I picked up and installed a set of Raxiom Axial Series Projector Headlights with Sequential LED Bar, on my 14 Prerunner.
Sadly they didn't come with any instructions and the DRL function isn't working, though the vehicle has factory DRLs.

The only info I can find says, "The DRL light bar portion of the headlight will require splicing into your running lights for operation"

Hoping the gurus in the forums will be able to help me. Do I need to wire them to a power source at the fuse block or is there a way to get them working with the DRL switch on the stalk?

 

Not that familiar with these headlights, but have you googled, or YouTube the installation video?

The installation of the assembly it self is/was no different than any other, it just the wiring of the DRLs

 

Post a pic of the connection for your DRL. If it's just a pigtail, you'll need to splice into the wiring harness of the OEM wires. If the DRL doubles as the turn signal, you'll need to do all 3 wires. A pic of the headlight itself would be good too.

 

So, they came with wiring on the lights, set up to accept the factory plug for the turn signals/DRL.

The DRL and turn signals both use the LED light tube, the turn signals are working already, simply from plugging everything in.

Okay, thank you all for your input.
Just went to take pictures and the danged DRLs are working now.

Truck running, at DRL on the stalk and checked everything else, everything is good. WTH

 

Okay, now I'm perplexed.
I just went back outside to go run some errands and now they aren't working.

 

More to come in the near future.

The seller is going to replace them for me so we can rule out any type of defect

 

I would grab a multimeter and test the voltage. Make sure you're getting voltage from the truck's harness. I can't remember, but it's possible that the truck's DRL runs off -12v instead of +12v. If the headlight DRL needs +12v, you will need to reverse the polarity.

I wanted to provide an update on this thread. The seller shipped me a new set of headlights and I installed them in the truck.

They are wired in such a fashion that the DRLs should work the same way as the factory lights do.

After installing the new headlights, I tested everything out and everything works exactly as it should.
