Shifter Boot Question

    So I just the the original boot of my Truck cause it was becoming ripped. I like the way it looks without the boot on like just the stick and the black cover below it but i dont like how the carpet just ends and its metal below it.
    any suggestions on something to cover it up but not the full boot

    1997 3RZ 5spd 4x4 Reg Cab
    2.7L 3RZ,K&N filter, 4" deck plate mod,flowmaster 40 series,3" suspension lift, hybrid 52"chevy/toyota rear springs.
    small piece of marine grade carpet cut to the size of the shifter trim ring (mines square goes around the 5spd shifter and 4wd) remove the metal plate witht he two rubber boots,make cuts for shifters and then bolt the metal plate back over top the carpet
