Do I need to install shims when I install a progressive 3 leaf AAL pack to gain 1.5 inch rear lift? Also, is there a rule of thumb for what degree shims to get for 1.5 inch rear lift? Thanks

No, and the rule of thumb is shim when needed. So go ahead and do it, if there's vibes, then its time to check angles and consider shim.

I installed the Icon 3 leaf recently on my sisters tacoma and it was perfect.

Rule of thumb for rear lift is 1 degree of angle for each inch of lift.

Ah yes, down the rabbit hole you go! Unfortunately there is no good rule of thumb, in my experience.
Shims, carrier bearing drop, complicated drive line angle measurements are all things some people have to do IF they have drive line vibrations after lifting their truck.

Some folks have no problems at all. I had to do all kinds of BS with the same Icon leafs Bishop84 had no issues with.

It is not entirely voodoo, there is a very systematic way to deal with vibrations, but it is very much specific to each individual vehicles. It does suck having to take apart a bunch of stuff you just did if you find you have vibrations. I ended up needing a 2 degree rear shim, non-standard carrier bearing drop, and needle bearing replacement up front when it was all said and done for less than a 2 inch lift.

Oh ok. I gotcha. Well, hopefully I end up being a lucky one and not have to do any extra stuff when I install the AALs but we will see.
