Smart key blank

That’s really weird. I don’t recall if my non-fob key has that on the back or not and don’t have it with me.
This isn’t a dig in any way, but have you tried rotating the key 180 degrees? The ones in the fob are directional, one way for the door the other for the tailgate.
“Black plastic points towards the drivers side taillight” is how I remember
Edit: also some earlier 3rd gens had different keys for the tailgate and door I think?

 

Yeah, unfortunately I tried both ways. I’ll play with it some more. I remember the earlier years had separate tailgate keys, but I’m pretty sure mine wasn’t one of them. We’ll see what I come up with.

 

Just in case you wish to compare:

my keys are directional on both the tailgate and the driver’s door.

 

My big key has the cutout on the back, but the fob keys don't. Also, I think that only 2016 has the separate key for the tailgate, and it was a side cut key.
