I have a SnugTop shell on my '06 with a pop out style lock. The other day I went to open it using the key and for some reason I did something weird. I think tried to use the key to turn the handle after the handle popped out. I felt the key turn in the lock cylinder but the handle did not move. I then used my hand to rotate the handle like it is normally done and then removed the key from the lock cylinder (having to kind of rotate the slot back to a vertical position).

Now when I push the handle down to lock the shell, the handle keeps popping back up. I cannot get the handle to stay pushed down and lock anymore. By rotating the lock cylinder and not the handle, did I inadvertently disable the locking feature somehow? I don't have any literature on the shell/lock.

This is the style of lock I have and it has the feature where it can be locked from inside the shell:

I'm experiencing the same problem. I just bought the lid and will hopefully be able to get it repaired. Were you able to resolve it on your own?

Update: I was able to fix it this morning. There is a locking wire that you remove to allow the interior handle to be removed. Pull the spring out and push the red button to unstick the locking mechanism. Reassemble and everything should work fine.
