Hey guys, I changed the spark plugs on my 1995 Toyota Tacoma with the 3.4l today. The manual said 11- 15 ft. Pounds of torque. I went with 12 but the engine was warm. It wasn't hot it had cooled for over an hour after a 10 mile drive but the NGK plugs tightened like 2 whole circles after hand tight so I was wondering if I over torqued them from the engine being warm. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. You should be fine.

They have a crush washer, so its going to have a full turn or more just to crush it.

I doubt you'll have a problem but for me? I change the plugs only when the engine is cold. Aluminum expands and contracts quite a bit so I do it cold. When I changed my plugs the last time I went with Iridiums simply because they last so long. I didn't have a torque wrench at the time. I took them back out a while back and torqued them that time when the engine was cold just to make sure. When I took out the old plugs the first time they were barely tight with a cold engine. The maintenance had always been done by a good dealer since the truck was new. It didn't take much on the ratchet to break them loose. I suspect that is what we want. Just barely tight and then when the engine heats up they will obviously get tighter as the aluminum expands. Aluminum heads have always been a PIA when it comes to spark plugs and I suspect they still can be.
