What's up community, got some Relentless Fabrication crossbars coming in a day. I bought them bare and not powdered coated.

Wanted to know what spray cans should I use for the rust protection and what black paint to use that is NOT GLOSSY? More a flat black look.

    Thanks everyone!

    Clean, prime, then paint.

Rustoleum makes a good product IMO

As someone who sucks at painting and has had bad luck with spray-on stuff, I will say that it has more to do with prep and cleaning than the actual paint you use.

For items that don't have to look pretty, I've switched to a Rustoleum brush-on oil-based paint. Flat black. Goes on nice and thick.

I would still clean& prime... then use something like Rustoleum professional.

I second Line-X. Powdercoat would be second choice.

Epoxy primmer on bare metel is best .If not at least self etching primmer before paint. Duplicolor or rustolium sell self etching primmer.

Yes, my advice is to bring it to a reliable shop and have it powdercoated...

An old Vermonter once told me "Paint won't stop rust. Something's got a mind to rust paint ain't gonna' stop it..."
