Just got a 2023 Taco 3.5 V6..got a sprint booster to improve throttle response (not performing ECU tune until warranty expires). Put it on this weekend and impressed with it so far, but still trying to find right setting. Anyone have and have a recommended setting that works for them?
From what I've seen so far sport mode 5 seems to be a favorite among people. Thoughts? Thank you.

For me putting something aftermarket between the ecu and your throttle doesnt sound like a good idea

From what I've read on here. Not a very popular, well like gimmick on here. Get a tune.

I don’t have one but it’s not a gimmick, I would think use a setting for a while and then try another for a while then if you don’t have the controller mounted un plug it and leave it alone. All it does is speed up the throttle flap. Which in turn makes the truck more responsive to your input. Is a tune better ? Absolutely but then if something were to blow up and they find that you messed with the ecu you are done for sure . At least this you can just remove the unit.

Tunes are undetectable. Pedal commander doesn't solve any issues that plague the 3rd gen tacoma, like a tune does. Tune is best bang for your buck.

I agree that the tune is better . 100 percent . But they are not undetectable . If they really look they can tell if the ECU was flashed . Even if you flash it back to stock if something goes down . Most of the time they probably won’t look but you never know. I’m sure Toyota corporate looks at this site and they know we put stuff like this on our trucks, and trust me if something went down that would cost them in a big way they would bail out immediately.

At the dealership level, if they plug the truck into Techstream what they will see is the stock ECU ID (at least with the KDMax Pro tune). The tune does not change that. Unlike other manufactures Toyota dealers don't have the ability to dig deeper in house. Most likely they would have to pull the ECU and send it to Toyota if they wanted to dig deeper. We've had multiple clients take their trucks in for warranty service with the tune applied and there have not been any issues to date.

That said, I agree that to say that a tune is totally undetectable is not accurate. Highly unlikely, yes. Impossible, no. It's no different than any other mod - you pay to play. Only you can decide if that unlikely risk is worth the benefit, and a reputable tuner should have no problem telling you this up front so you can make your decision.

To the OP - realize that waiting till the warranty expires means 5 yrs/60k miles, not 3/36. You may already realize that but just thought I'd mention it :)

Congratulations on your new taco. Pretty sure you’re in cloud nine right now . I bet I’ll see you post a for sale in market place in a few months once that novelty from SB wears off . In fact there’s some posts here regarding check engine codes relating to those things (pedal commander /sprint booster) I’ve never read a post where a warranty job got denied here in tacomaworld due to aftermarket tune .
