    Hi,
I have a pair of spyder projector halos. The first thing is the halos are very dim, you can't see them at all during the day. I have seen some people with the same spider headlights and their halos are much brighter. What could be causing this?

The second is I want to convert them to hid's. What kit do I need so I can do the hi beam bulb and the low beam projector? Thanks

For the HID conversion, get a set of Mini H1 7.0s from TheRetrofitSource. It is a lot of work to do the conversion, including fabricating your own custom mount and taking apart the headlights. I cut the original projectors for the mounting portion and used it as the mount after drilling some holes to connect it to the Mini H1 projectors.

For brighter halos, I would get some COB LED halos from Amazon and replace them. The measurements are based on the outer diameter, so just get matching diameters. Also, remember pictures can be very deceptive, and everything about Spyder and other aftermarket headlights is extreme low quality. COB LED halos are extremely bright, I would consider them borderline acceptable at night due to how much glare they produce. Then again, the Mini H1 7.0s produce literally zero glare, so I consider it evened out.

I did this on the Spec-D headlights I got for my Mercedes E320.

Ok, I am liking the idea of getting cob led halos. Anybody know what size to get? How would I find out without taking them apart first? Anything else I would need?

If you're going to upgrade to HIDs, you're going to need to take them apart. The Spyder projectors are absolute crap with HIDs... actually, they're just crap in general, just worse crap when paired HIDs. I would highly suggest getting a pair of OEM headlights to use if you can't have your truck out of commission for more than a week. The project you want to undertake will not take less than a single weekend, especially with no experience.

A grinder and drill will be necessary for making the custom mount. Some epoxy will probably be necessary for gluing the new halos on. I would suggest getting COB halos with a diffuser, so that it's a uniform ring of light rather than multiple pinpoints of light. An oven large enough to fit the headlights or a strong heat gun will be necessary for taking the headlights apart.

Additionally, don't bother converting the high beam to HIDs. HIDs turn on too slow to use for flashing purposes, and since The Retrofit Source Mini H1 is bi-xenon, you get HID high beam output from the projectors + halogen high beams.

If this appears to be too much work for you, there are members on here that offer custom retrofit services.

Don't even bother going COB. They're going to die in a month or so. Go SMDs or Hybrid SMD/COBs
