Need little insight. Brought the 16 Tacoma in for service and also informed them of a squealing sound on acceleration. As luck would have didn't do it. I bought this in 16 new and it has been doing it I would have say within 900 hundred miles or so. Finally I found a YouTube video and the driver captured the sound exactly the way mine is doing. This is and example of the sound.
Has anyone else heard this ? Now I have the sound and will take it to the dealership from YouTube. Not overly concerned it's under warranty. Hope I got the Tube video correct. If not this is what I searched for and this came up. Noise on acceleration....2016 Tacoma 2.7

Mine does that too periodically, but I've only started to notice it when the AC is on so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Went for a ride with the master mechanic (shop foreman) when he heard it. Said this was sort of normal for the Tacoma and that they do not know at this time what is the cause. Apparently this seems to be an issue that the big company in the sky is aware of including those across the pond. In other words they are fully aware of the sound but have no clue to the cause of it. With a/c on or off. Sort of intermitted. Love it when I'm not the only one clueless walking this earth.

    stuff and things...
mine has a squeal on acceleration. They're supposed to be replacing the driveshaft when it comes in. I'll let you know if that is the problem with mine, and it may be for yours as well...

Not to sure about the "normal" bit. Especially when they have told me they have no clue of what it is. The foreman went as far saying that they have discussed this intermitting squeal in the south eastern district and with other districts across the US, including the engineers at Toyota corporate and have no answer. Either they are blowing smoke up my fourth point of contact in order to make me happy in saying that's sort of the norm, but not, we know about it, but it's ok, yours is not the only one. High dollar vehicle and no logical answer. Pretty disappointing. New technology. I did hear a similar squeal with my motorcycle after I had several major up grades high compression pistons, carb changed to a m-42, and a lowered and few other changes. Got it out of the shop filled it with 87% in the tank and it squealed similar to what I hear now. Brought back to the shop mechanic rode it and asked what was the fuel I told him 87% he drained it told me use 93% and the acceleration squeal went away. Not saying this is the same situation, but I think I'll run 93% at least 2 tanks just to see if that works. Why not ? No one else in the know, seems know other then it's normal. Well I guess that's about it. Have a good one.

Mine did that every now and then too

Made it to 22k miles and never left me stranded on the side of the road, Toyota rules! Bulletproof!

MVC-043S copy.jpg Apparently Toyota changed a lot especially the engine. My 96 4x4 I sold had 210 k on her. Was not stock. super charger, catback exhaust system, lifted. At that time very few parts where made due to the suspension change (Front). Had to go with cornbred spacer the an outfit in VA made. Never had a problem with the truck V-6. FJ cruiser same engine that I got later no problems 2014. Fast forward 2016 new truck squeals at times on acceleration and it's a mystery in the Toyota community. The part that bugs me is the experts do not know what it is when it is apparent that it ain't right and shouldn't be doing this. I am pretty anal when it comes to any vehicle I own. Oh one theory from the maintenance dept is that they think it might be the exhaust system expanding and contracting because the way it's made with the walls of the exhaust system are too close to each other. Have to admit though I did get stuck and stranded on the side of the road in Uwharrie, NC.

It's not really a squeal. It's more of a harmonic resonance or a whine. My 4Runner did it worse than my truck does.

Every problem with a Toyota product is "normal".

For the record, my 2nd Gen doesn't whine.

Rather be a 2nd gen owning 3rd Gen hater than a 3rd Gen owning 3rd Gen hater. Lol

I nearly waited to buy a 3rd Gen. So, so happy i got impatient a bought a 2015. Toyota needs to get their poop in a group. The 3rds have the same problems the 2nd gen have plus new ones. They never fix anything.

I haven't listened to the video yet (at work less headphones) but just by reading the comments I'm pretty sure I've heard this in my truck. More of a whine than a squeal definitely and only under acceleration.
