starting 4x4 again

After 40 some years I have a 4x4 again. Not the two pivot bars on front hubs that the Willy's wagon had or the single twist of the 73 Land Cruiser but now everything is electric and lots of electric things. When to use what, that's going to be this winters project.

OK so I may have figured out how to answer this. Being dyslexic and a horrible speller writing is not something to look forward to. edin what does MGM mean in your Tacoma description? The Land Cruiser was bought new when living miles from a Toyota dealer. It seamed to go anywhere but with lots of road noise, a cold cabin, and many mech problems. Like master brake cyl, then the rear brake cyl, then the hose from engine to oil filter split on a big river bridge and caught fire. Dumb luck the car behind was a state trouper who dealt with the traffic and put out the fire. For some reason the thread on the hose was different on each end so you could not run the good hose from the out over to the in and bypass the filter. This was in the first year we had it. The Tacoma reputation is for a very durable truck. I am way past thinking of those mech problems as adventures to laugh about.

I was looking at the discussion about taking out the rear seats in the Access Cab. I think Toyota missed the idea of usable space behind the seats. Anyone wanting passengers would get the four door. My Chevy S10 had the seats folded up in the sides making lots of clean space. My two 90 lbs Labs fit with room to shift about. It's the safety of facing forward with the head rest that makes the seats take up all the room. Toyota put a nice clean space in the SR but won't in the other models. Me, I would make the storage space the standard and the seats an extra if wanted. It did not look like the seat removal was clean and simple. I have taken door panels off other cars and the little clips used are not made for this. I was thinking of taking it to a body shop and having it done. Removing panels is something they do often. Anyone else tried that route and how did it come out at what price?
