3" ToyTec lift, ProComp shocks, 33" KO2's Helo wheels, Aries bull bar, LED tail lights, 10K HID Kit, double 5% tint all around 35% on windshield., Axle Dump, Complete sound system, 2 12" MTX Terminators with planet audio 4000 watt amp.
I have 1 12" in a sealed box and they sounded clean and good. I wanted them louder, so I purchased a ported box. I hooked them up and didn't get as much sound from the ported (I even adjusted the amp and my radio to see if that was the problem and it wasn't) as I did the sealed. So I put the 12" back in the sealed box, and now the subs aren't near as loud as they used to be. And the sub is making a whining noise. I can turn the music all the way off and still hear it. And when I accelerate the noise gets louder. I haven't checked the wires or anything yet. It must be an error when I wired them the second time because the first setup was loud, clean, just like I wanted it. Somebody have suggestions on what is causing this noise?

    it's called Alternator Whine

    usually a poor ground location/application

your ported box issue was caused by a total lack of understanding loudspeaker enclosures.

Check to make sure yr power n rcas r not crossing or running in direct contact. If not u gotta fix yr ground. Wire. If still not. U got some problems. Lol.

I'm going to go with poor ground, shitty RCA's or the Radio output. Running power next to RCAs for a sub shouldn't be the issue.

If it's none of the above its the amp... Boss is known for anything but quality... And you can't just buy a box with a vent on it and think it's gonna make your sub louder... A custom ported box is designed for a specific subwoofer... Buying a pre fab ported box is never the answer... The ts parameters are what decides what box will work best and how big to build it and where to tune it to

    Bad ground.

Make sure you scrape the paint around the ground location so there is nothing between your connector and the body (metal) of your vehicle.
