I had a leer wedge construction cap installed last year /2024 it’s a 23x30 wedge construction cap. I use this truck primarily for fishing and camping. I have a small platform with a drawer inside estimate about 200lbs of stuff inside topper. I pull a 16’ war eagle boat with 40 hp outboard. When I hit a medium to hard bump, it feels like the shocks bottom out. I installed a set of sumo bump stops and that helped the bottoming out but it rides like Chit. The truck is a limited and has small shocks, not the same as the TRD trucks. My question is. Should I upgrade to the Bilstein shocks or other upper shelf shock in addition to the bump stops. I’m trying to be a good steward and not add stuff I don’t need. And suggestion or advice is welcomed. I’ve been through the add a leaf, spacer thing with a Jeep. I’m trying to get advice so I don’t chase that rabbit again. Thanks in advance!

You need new leaf springs. Icon rxt in stage 2 would be my suggestion. I went that route, I was in same situation. You could do 3 leaf and a leaf. They work for awhile, but flatten out in time.

I replaced my truck's 7 year old stock leaf springs as soon as I could after buying it. I have zero faith in Toyota leafs beyond one bicycle in the bed.

Ok, I was thinking that when I was under the truck installing the sumo bump stops. Seemed like the bump stops were a bandaid to a bigger problem. Thanks

with that kind of weight, I think you are correct. One thing to note; most aftermarket rear leaf packs are also designed to add additional lift. You might consider that when looking.

Well I started that spiral with a jeep. Level it, then front was to tall. Looked like a puppy under a peach tree. Put spacer in rear. Umph. Like a teeter totter, then Rip it all out and start over…..

As others have mentioned, Icon springs are great. I got them because I liked the adjustability. I have mine set on option two and I don't even haul or tow that much. But when I do, they hardly sag at all. Definitely worth looking into. Deavers and Dobinsons are also really good as well and worth looking into depending on your price point.
