So I'm already running a 10 inch kicker with a 400 watt amp. Got all new kicker speakers for doors an dash as well at as a 250 watt 4 channel amp to bridge from subs amp. Is it worth it or even necessary to swap out my head unit.

If all your speakers are powered off the amps then prob not. Then it comes down to functionality of the receiver and what you want out of it
