Finally blew the motor at 230,000, sprung for a Jasper with 100,000/3 year warranty. The birdpig has a new set of wings! OME heavy load lift kit, Dakar leafs w/AAL, frame mounted energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops, 882 coils, nitrocharger sport shocks, trail gear sliders, addicted offroad front bumper, KC 130w daylighters, Warn M8000, 31" BFG KM2's, custom dents and Nevada pinstripes.
I've seen plenty sway bar end links fail, but I've never seen a sway bar snap clean like this. It made a crazy metallic ping when it snapped. Of course my wheel travel was unlimited after it broke so I over-drooped and tore both cv boots. Good thing the wreckers have plenty of sway bars for $40 each!image.jpg

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I have to admit, I've never seen a sway-bar snap in half either. :ohsnap:

Nicely done, haha. I've never been able to droop enough to tear a CV boot and I haven't had a sway bar on in a year or two.

I was actually thinking of removing my sway bar tomorrow during an oil change.... May have to leave it alone for now.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Haven't run a swaybar for 40,000mi wheeled hard, too.

In other news...right before I headed out to break my shit, I finally replaced my 18 year old driver's seat that was nothing but fabric and metal against my back and thighs. It took a bit of bending, bashing, and drilling but the end result is great. 2003 4runner seat. Sits a couple inches higher. Feels like a new truck with a better view of the road after sitting in that tired old stock seat for 18 years. image.jpg

Yeesh! One wheel take a pretty hard hit or something? Never seen a swaybar snap like that. But congrats on the new seat! One of my biggest complaints on the 1st gens.

As others have said, I haven't been running a sway bar for years now, and even with extended travel coilovers I haven't torn a CV boot. :notsure:

My sway bar is making some noises, so I looked under and voila. Thank you Dana Corp!!
That's the sway bar mount. There's more but you get the idea.

Thats crazy!! Wheel travel is not unlimited once you lose the sway bar though. I'll chime in like many above and say I've been running without one for couple years and wheeled and never tore a cv boot. I'd say run it without before replacing and you just might love it too :)

Seriously with you on the seats though...holy shit they're uncomfortable. I found nice seat pad thingy's for outdoor chairs at Ikea for like $4 a pop, stuffed them under my seat covers and they are tolerable now and didn't raise it much. I'm 6' and its been hard to find a seat replacement that doesn't put my head into the roof when wheelin' :bananadead:

Yeah the broken sway bar wasnt the cause of the torn boots im afraid. Ive run multiple tacomas, all have had the bar removed, never a torn boot. I sure love the feel of the front end with that stinkin bar gone, its so restrictive feeling!
