Hi, first time poster here but been reading this great outlet of information for a while. My apologies in advance for any newbie questions. I have searched the forum but with so much info it's hard to tell what I'm looking for so I figured I would just ask!

I will be picking up 2010-2012 Tacoma crew cab 4x4 in the coming weeks. I will be using it off road occasionally but nothing too extreme. 90% of its use will be on-road. Im choosing the 4x4 to allow me the option of recovering my dirt bike/rider if for some reason riding out wasn't an option but also to go camping in the bush so reasonable off road ability is important.

So i guess my questions are what sort of suspension/lift set up should I get or do i even need it and which tires would best suit my needs. I will most likely need a winch and lighting set up.

Fwiw I am stretching my budget to buy the Taco alone so the bare minimum is all I'm after in regards to aftermarket gear.

    Cheers!

You don't really NEED a lift. Any tires will be better than the stock garbage tires. Some BFG ATs are a popular tire you could throw on that would perform well but not be too aggressive for mostly highway driving. I had Goodyear Duratracs on mine and loved them. More aggressive but still did fine on highway.

If you do lift a Toytec kit with 5100s or the OME setup are good options.

Welcome! I agree w/Kenny Fucking Powers. The lifts look good and adds to the clearance for offroading, but you don't NEED it. I have already been on some fun offroading trips in the mountains around here including a TW ride. The 4wd system is my first, and it's already leaps and bounds better than the 2wd xterra and jeeps I've had with lifts/OR tires so unless you will be doing a lot more offroading than it sounds like, you are probably fine stock for a while. You will eventually want a lift though.. lol

Also figure out which bed length you want first. If you use your truck a lot, the longer bed is highly desirable but not available on the offroad model. I have a sport and that's the ONLY thing I regret.. I got the 5' bed on my TRD sport and can't sleep in the back if I needed/wanted to for camping which sucks. I didn't even realize there was a longer bed option. blah.

    Good luck!

A 6ft bed would be ideal for my dirt bike, camping needs and surf boards

So is there a 6ft bed available in a crew cab 4x4?

Sport model. I'm not sure if a SR5 truck can have a long bed. I bet you can find one though.

Yep, they make my exact TRD sport 4x4 truck but in a longbed. I could kick myself. lol

It's not a huge deal, but literally that's the only thing I would change. :D
