    Im going out on a limb here but going to speculate that it wont work...
    theres a thread here showing you need to slam tailgate pretty firmly for driver side of tailgate to latch correctly & have even gaps.
    the power tailgate motors dont slam anything....
    the tailgate matt will require more pressure to close & you will have more tension as the lower portion of the mat piches between rear of the bed & bottom of gate.
    requiring more pressure to squeeze it shut.
    I have a manual gate & triplealiner tailgate matt & need to pop it pretty good for it to latch now that I installed the tailgate matt.

    I have a rubberized mat, not a pad, its kept inplace by all the tailgate torx screws.

    None so far
    Since I use my 4th gen for field work, the tailgate routinely becomes the default workbench. And with the spray-on bedliner/tailgate, that surface requires a rubber mat for that purpose.

    This "thick rubber tailgate mat" from eBay cost $39 delivered, and required trimming the length and notching for the latches. The original size was 60 X 19.5 inches. I used construction adhesive because I wasn't keen a drilling a bunch of holes and Loctite PL3 worked well on the old 2nd gen.
