If it's anything like Chevy, it's not actually Toyota employee doing that final QC check. A good friend of mine does the paint QC for Camaros, and he is not a GM employee. He's a dude working at a staffing agency to put himself through college.

Now, personally I trust him to make sure all the Camaros paint jobs are bitchin' because he's a pretty detail oriented guy, but he says the staffing agency basically takes in any warm body. Also don't underestimate the power of a production line running behind schedule, managers screaming, and disgruntled factory workers to inspire a little bit of "motivated blindness" in a QC worker. "A mismatching fender? They'll surely notice and fix that at the dealer, ship it."

Completely unrelated... shit man, what the hell happened to bitching dealer/manufacturer installed decal packs like this!?! That shit was awesome!

Lol no worries. I rarely read every page of a thread so there's no telling no how many times I've done it.

Sadly, yes.... It's a "stamping line". Can't make a unibody panel that long. The bed and cab aren't separate. It's why I chose my Taco over it.
Honda has a nice "truck", but what do I know....
See one at a dealer next time or walk up to one that's parked. ;)

The grunt, yes, but they're only a part of the delivery process. That's why there's QC and highly-paid management too whose responsibility is to ensure quality meets expectation.

Anyone here ever made a mistake at work? A mistake that, perhaps, also made it past someone else? Things happen....it's human nature. Also, this mishap is not an indication of the overall assembly quality of the vehicle. This was an acute defect, not some total breakdown of the quality control system in place. Should it have made it out the door? Of course not. But it did. Big deal...life goes on. :notsure:

Agreed, but there's been more than one of this same "mistake". How many 2015s did you see with wrong bedside stickers, or fenders. Just sayin.

But yeah, you are right about that.
