Hmm complains about the quality of his current Tacoma being low, but somehow thinks a manual trans DCSB will fix all that?

 

If you don’t have kids, AC is the best Tacoma. Long bed, short wheel base, manual transmission.

Otherwise, the DCLB is still shorter than the shortest full size truck. It’s really not hard to park. Suck it up bro.

 

If you can’t park a LB you probably shouldn’t be driving a truck... seriously.

A ZR2 diesel LOL. It can't even get out of its own way. 0-60 of almost 10 seconds, auto reviews have said it's ponderous getting up to highway speed. Passing is barely acceptable.

Put a FOX suspension on the Taco.

 

He didn’t say he couldn’t park it. He said it was a pain in the ass to park, which it is. Vehicles are getting larger and parking spaces are getting smaller.

 

I get that you're trying to validate your purchase but he never said he couldn't park it. The SB is undeniably easier to park, not having to account for the extra wheelbase. The dclb can be interesting to park, especially when the aisle is narrow like in big cities.

 

That’s not a vehicle size issue, it’s a driving skill issue. These are not big vehicles.

 

See what I said above. I’ve been driving full sized trucks pretty much my entire life. So have most of my friends. If you find these things hard to navigate, you should either practice parking to hone your skills or just move to a compact car cause a “truck” just doesn’t get much smaller.

By the way, I’m not trying to validate anything. My present truck is short bed so...

If you're driving a DCLB then you might as well drive a 1/2 ton. They are within 2-3" of the same length and you have the option of a crew cab with a massive back seat and a 5.5' bed. With the tailgate down and using a bed extender you have almost 8' of usable bed with the same overall length truck as a DCLB. Or choose an extended cab with a 6.5' bed and a back seat as big or bigger than the DC Tacoma. Either way you get much more payload and towing capacity. A Ford with the 2.7L turbo puts out almost double the torque at 1/2 the RPM's and still gets better fuel mileage than Tacoma in the same size package as a DCLB.

The DCSB or AC with a 6' bed are much shorter and more nimble off road. That is why you buy a Tacoma. It's not that the DCLB's are horribly difficult to park, but if you're dealing with the same size anyway you might as well get some advantages of a bigger truck.

 

I have a DCLB and driving around and parking in New Orleans or any old city is a pain. But that's more to do with narrow streets, shit drivers and small parking spots. Much rather be in a corolla for that lol.

 

Can't and hard are descriptors you've posted, not anyone else. He doesn't want to account for the additional wheel base, I don't understand why that offends you and your full size buds

 

Doesn’t offend me at all. I’m just stating an opinion that these aren’t truck issues but skill issues. I can’t understand why that offends you.

 

A LB has to swing out wider than a SB but that's a skill issue not a truck issue, got it.

 

I was about to trade in my gen 2 Tacoma for a 2017 4runner but my salesman was so old and slow that someone pulled the key for the exact package and color i wanted literally right before he could get to it. I sat at the desk waiting to see if they would buy it for 45 mins, they did and the rest is history. Ended up getting a 2017 OR DCLB =). NO RAGRETS!

These aren’t full sized trucks by any means. If you have trouble parking them, go find an empty lot and practice parking or buy something much smaller. Don’t know what else to tell you. There’s really no other answer.

The only thing I regret about mine is SWB, not because I've ever really needed it, but if you're going to have a truck, have all you can get..

Pull the camper for a little while, then check back..
