Hello TW, I decided it's high time for me to start an account and join the community after having spent the better part of a year lurking, using the forums to get up to speed about the 3G Tacomas. The community has fantastic insider info, and I see TW as a great "value add" for my month-old TRD sport truck. Ya'll have the straight scoop without the dealership spin cycle, even if the fount of knowledge is just an open fire hydrant that can knock a man off his feet!

To provide some background on how I got here, I should start by saying that in the 23+ years I've been on the road, I've been strictly a car guy. Give me a manual gearbox and the open road and you'll never hear a complaint out of me. But after my son was born in '09, the realities of having a small MT to whip around in took a backseat to being my boy's "roadie" - I think Metallica has less gear on tour... Anyway once my daughter joined the scene in 2012, I went into full-on research mode to find something bigger that still met RULE 1: I pick my own gears.

Research led me to realize that I'd either have to go with a low-end model Jeep, a sports/muscle car, or a luxury sedan that was way out of budget. And apparently SUV owners can't be bothered to clutch. But then tucked into Edmund's car finder listings was an appealing option that I didn't really initially consider: pickups like the Taco and Frontier. Unlike the new Chevy twins or the Jeeps, they mated the MT with V6's, 4x4, and full packages. And like spring cleaning, the cobwebs of memory started to clear away and I remembered how much I wanted Marty McFly's 'Yota when I was still a boy...

After a few of life's curve balls slowed me down, I zoned in on 2016 being the year to pull the trigger. I did a build on toyota.com with both the TRDOR and TRDS, and then went to all the local dealer websites to find if there was a manual on the lot to test drive. Found an access cab to test and immediately knew this would be my next vehicle. Printed my build pages and waited 5 weeks for the dealership to deliver my almost exact spec build sheet.

At any rate, I've gone on much too long. But greets, I look forward to being a part of this community!
