Timing Belt inspecioin.

Is there a way to inspect the timing belt without taking the engine apart as if you were going to replace it? 2003 v6 eng. 94K mi. Recently purchased the truck and "looked up" manintenance-only went back a short time.
Having no issues-just want to be safe.
Have contacted place of purchase--not gotten back to me yet.

 

Yes, I read that--- Just want to be sure it was replaced at factory recommended maint. schedule. I do all the maint. on my 91--There is no record of maint.--everything done prior to schedule. With TLC also.
Anything in question is always done before it is needed. Sure has "payed off". Runs better than new. Only issues are a couple of surface rust spots.

Did you just BUY the vehicle? If yes.....where did you buy the truck from?

Call your local Toyota dealer and give them your VIN number. If any of the maintenance was done by Toyota, they should have a record of it.

If they don't and you're still unsure - just replace it. Better safe than sorry.

 

The 1GR-FE uses a timing chain, not a belt. There is no scheduled maintenance for it.

I did the toyota vin # search and found only the most recent work done. Place I purchased is locating the previous owner to get the info. Have had the 2003 for only a month--lots better pick-up than the 4 banger.

 

I had a MISTYPE one the origina post it is a2003.
It is a 1st generation---2003---am i correct in saying that it is a BELt? That is the info that I found here. V-6 2003.
