Hi, I’m new to the forum and pretty new to my Tacoma too. This may be a dumb question but I’d like to ask anyway. When I finally switch my factory tires into something like a duratrac and I get the hum that everyone talks about, is it bad for my truck at all. Is it creating damaging vibrations of any kind. Most of my driving is on pavement but I do end up in mud during hunting season. Sorry if it’s dumb, but please let me know.

It won't cause any damage. These trucks don't do the best at dampening road noise so you just get more of that noise in the cab with an aggressive tire on pavement. No damage done.

Thank you for the explanation. I’m sure there’s a thread already but is the duratrac really that good? I eventually want to replace the factory kevlars with something much better off road but still good on road. Definitely don’t want E rating either. 2019 TRD OR. Just want to go stock or 265/75.

I haven't had any first hand experience with them, but I've heard lots of good things about them. There's a section on here dedicated to wheels/tires, and I bet the search function should pull that topic up pretty easily. 265/75 is a fairly common size to find tires in too, so you'll have plenty of options to find something you like at a price you can live with.

Sounds like you don't really need an aggressive tire.

Take a look at something like a Michelin Defender LTX M/S. There are several brands with similar tread patterns.

The tread pattern is the source of the "hum". More aggressive = more "hum"

Although, I'd put off replacement until the current tires are worn out.

I’m waiting, I don’t know if I’ll wait until they’re completely worn because I really like the look of a more aggressive tire. It is hard to spend money on tires when I already have tires though. I don’t want to mess with lifting or anything. I like the stock tire size and it’s plenty of ground clearance for the terrain I drive on for hunting.
