Tires not rotated?

i bought this truck with around 3700 miles on it from a dealership. Supposedly it had the 5k service done then but I am concerned that the tires may have not been rotated. The front tires have noticeable edge wear where the back don’t have it. I have 8100 miles on it now. What do you think? Did they rotate them? Am I tripping?And will this cause the wheels to warp?

 

Rotate them every few thousand miles on your own. Just in case.

I think about rotating tires just one of those things I tend to forget .

 

Some might say they rotated all 8200 miles.

 

I always mark mine, and write the date of the oil filter, that way ill know they have been changed. Ill put a scrap on the filter so they dont just wipe off the date.

 

You bought the truck with 3700 miles on it. Toyota Care 1st kicks in @ 5000 miles. The tires were never rotated at the dealership.

On my 2001 Dodge Cummins, I manually rotated all 4 tires (as well as the spare so all 5 would wear as evenly as possible) with every oil change, at 10K miles, same as my Tacoma. I never noticed any real difference in tire wear.

So far on my 2017 Tacoma Off Road, I have 33K on the OEM tires, and I have never rotated them. Once they wear out, I plan to replace them with 32" Cooper ST Maxx's

I doubt it’s lack of rotation causing the outside edge to wear. Could be any number of things including under inflation or an alignment problem or poor balancing or some other front end problem or several other things. Take it to a tire shop that knows what they are doing and have it checked. Most dealers don’t know s..t about tires, alignment, etc.

 

Well it has a noticeable positive camber on the front end... figured it was normal.

 

Can anyone chime in and tell me if this amount of camber is normal? I’m going to have it looked at today. It’s much more pronounced in person.

 

Camber should be -0.1 to +1.4 degrees on a stock factory suspension. That's about -1/64 to +3/16" off vertical at the edge of a 16" rim for reference. Are you lifted ?

 

No it’s bone stock.

 

Bring it to a good shop with a Hunter or Snap-on wheel alignment system and see what they find. Outside tire wear like that can be from too much positive camber and you say it's noticeable so there's probably something wrong. Under inflation causes wear on the inside and outside edges usually .

 

Mine look about like this, with just TRD Pro Bilstiens, think they are 1" over stock. Can't get to zero without some new upper control arms, but it hasnt been an issue and has been aligned many times. Its in spec, they will probably tell you yours are too. If you hate the looks, just get you some adjustable UCA's. They may be able to get it a bit better, though.

 

not rotating at the 5k mark probably took 18 months off their life. my condolances

 

Ya I could care less about the looks. I just want to make sure nothing is wrong.
