Tires & wheels help

Ok. Sorry, but there is kind of too much info out there about this subject... I've been looking and looking but mostly I feel like I'm lost.

I recently put a little lift on the pickup, Icon leaves with option 2 (swap leaf) & OME 885 Coils.
Seems like I gained about 2.5" front & rear, but of course the damn body still seems tight on the front tires.

I was thinking about getting new wheels, for a moment 16"s but it sounds like this tire size is going out of fashion. That being said, I'm thinking about getting new wheels anyways to change the look.

What wheel specs do I need? Do 16's fit over the brakes?
What offset/backspacing etc?

For 17's is the 285/65/17 what everyone says "mostly doesn't rub"?
What do ppl get for 16's?

 

Go to a 17” wheel more tire choices. A 285/65 will be fine. Make sure you get a good alignment with caster in the higher end if you stay with factory ucas. Although there is always a possible you may need aftermarket. Stay with a 0 offset wheel. Wheel for least amount of issues 17x8 0 offset. Imo.

 

Stock you are 20 inches center of hub up to fender and 22 inches in the back center of hub up to fender.
more choices for tires in 17 inch. 285 70 17 look great but you’ll have to do a bit of trimming and possibly get a cmc done if you off-road. It’s not a big deal.
0 or -10 offset make fitting tires easier. Personally I like SCS wheels or Methods, Black Rhino.

 

265/75/16 lifted 1.75 in the front. 16x8.5 -6 Offset and 4.51 backspace
No rubbing, not turned, not off road, never. From what I have read over the years 285 on 17 or 16's is going to rub even if you have a lift and will require a CMC (Cab Mount Chop) which is cutting and welding.

My tacoma came with 17's and I went down to 16. I think more rubber than wheel rides better on the street, better for offroad, and looks better. At the time, it was a significant saving on both tires and wheel to buy 16s instead of 17. I don't know what the pricing is like today.
Before you buy aftermarket wheels, I would read up in the forums and double check with retailer that they will clear your calipers, Tacomas are a hard fit for wheels.

 

What wheels are those? I’m not sure if its just me but the wheels & tires fitment appears to be extremely disorganized on here lol…

My current tires are balding bc I feel too busy in some ways to dive into this. What wheel brands are good? What makes a good quality wheel?
