TOOLBOX...choosing tools

Here are pics of my tools in my garage, I prefer usingCraftsman because if one happens to break all I have to do is take in to thestore and they give me a new one no questions asked. I have only had to that once in about 10years.Good tools.







The jack in front of the toolbox is made for lifted trucksand the extra weight, it reaches up to a six inch lift.

My toy, 1991 Mustang 5.0 with 26,500 original miles, this iswhat I use most of my tools for.

 

I would rather have snap on or Matco. Mac has
Fallen behind in the tool race in Canada since
They have been bought out by standly tools and
Dewalt. It you are a just doing things at home
Craftsman and mastercraft maximum series
Are good. But if in the trade and using all day
Ever day I would go with snap on or Matco if using
That tool all the time. The best side cutters,pliers,pipe wrench
I really like channel lock over snap on and Matco. They
Are really cheap. I just replace them every couple of years
When worn out. They do not loosen of at the pivot like other
Company's. I would rather have a cheap tool
Box with lots of good tools. These guys who have the
Big expensive tool chest half the draws are empty if
You go through them. It seems all the guys with big tool boxes are
Trying to compensate for something.

 

i only use snap on ive tried a few tools from others they dont even compare. heres my box. Ill have to get a updated one have a new stainless top makes it so much better. O and for the comment above me all my drawers are completly full and organized look at a few of the pics

Enjoying my new Craftsman toolbox, and I'm pretty pleased with a recent "bang and dent" Gladiator cabinet (on the left) I picked up for around $50.

 

our mechanic at work has a snap-on box. when they hired him he brought it in on a rollback. ill try to get a pic of it next time i make it to the shop

 

X2. I have a pair of Knipex "channellock" pliers my brother in law gave me for helping him out. Been using them for years. Love them.

 

I agree knipex are great I have the cutters could not find the pliers and needle
Nose do they even make them?

 

i use a mix of snap-on,mac,matco,napa, just whatever works for the job at hand

 

What about the Cornwell?!?!

These are my two Cornwell boxes...I do have Snap-on, Craftsman, Mac, Matco and so on inside but it is all Cornwell on the outside.

 

So here is my setup and what I have aquired over the last 14 years of being a Winery Maintenance Technician/Millwright. But this isnt all of it though. have more stashed in drawers,cabinets and some at home. But here is a few pics.

I have a huge assortment of tools, virtually none bearing the brands mentioned in the poll. My wrench sets (SAE & Metric) were made by Pittsburgh, my socket sets were made by Gearwrench, my power tools are mostly Dewalt, my shop machines are generally Jet or Grizzly, my electronic test equipment is usually Fluke (some exceptions), my rolling tool boxes are generally Wisent (purchased in Germany), my work benches either came from Harbor Freight or hand-made, and so on.

 

WOW. Only 7 for Mac Tools? I think they are somewhat of the best well made tools ever.

 

should be able to get rolls of regular foam from a home improvement or craft store...i know our squadron has to cut our spaces out of the foam for each tool on our own...

 

I bring my Tacoma to the Toyota stealership, but thats because I work there

I use all kinds of tools, I would say they are mostly Mastercraft though. They are basically the same as Craftsman, but sold at Canadian Tire. I have a few Snap-On, but they are expensive and IMO not always better. Plus, if something breaks I need to track down the Snap-On sales guy PITA! I also have some PowerFist tools from a place called Princess Auto, they are super cheap and mid quality. I mainly have them for tools I seldom use or BFHs. There are some Craftsman in my box too, If they were on a really good sale!
