I removed the spare tire on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma and installed a winch on my rear bumper in its place; my TPM System stays on even after pressing the resetting the button under steering column many times, local Toyota Dealership could offer no help. How do I get system to stop looking for missing spare tire TPM?

    Thanks

A 2008 will soon start to have issues with the TPMS batteries crapping out, anyway. Remove the gauge cover. Two screws and one wire plug. Gently pull down the lower dash cover. Clips. Remove the gauge cluster. Four more screws and two small wire plugs. Push the tabs that retain the cover on the gauge cluster and remove the clear cover. (Now's your chance to clean it. They get dirty.) Gently raise the black, printed gauge face and place a small piece of black tape over the TPMS light hole. Re-assemble. Done. It looks and acts like there never was one! The cool thing is that it's a permanent "fix", but you haven't cut-up or damaged anything, so you, or another owner can always easily go back and change it again.

You could try the Ford check engine light fix, put a piece of electrical tape over it lol.

The shop that I work at has a TPMS relearn tool (assuming this is the same tool Toyota would be using). When doing a reset on vehicles with full size spares such as a Tacoma (that have sensors in them) the tool requires you to pick a 4 or 5 wheel configuration. I have tried using a 4 wheel configuration to solve the same issue on vehicles before, but the computer of the vehicle typically does not reset the system this way.

Not sure if it would work or not, (don't see why not in theory) but you could try taping the sensor to the inside of one of the wheels on the truck.. Or else you're stuck with putting it in a pressurized box of some sort and leaving it on the truck somewhere.
