Glad I could piss you off. I look at it from reducing risk. Less risk with a new tire from a major tire maker than a retread. I am not talking shit, just asking the question. 3rd..no retreads for me. Not WORTH the risk!

The only time I have ever known a tire to fail like that it was usually operator induced (excess speed, clipped concrete curbing, etc).

If you don't like my opinion, don't read it.

 

I have seen a couple failures (tread seperation) of the treadwrights, but they are few and far between. They will replace them usually with no problems.

 

i drive truck for a living also and this didnt piss me off at all. tires are tires but virgins are my preference over retreads.

 

Untill you actually try these tires.....you can't really talk shit

 

You guys have no idea that just about every big truck on the road uses them and they drive a hell of allot more miles then we do. Retreads are fine. Shit happens. I have had brand new tires blow out....explain that?

Brutalguyracing had 2 of his delaminate. He called TR, they asked for a picture, he sent it to them and walla 2 brand new tires.

I just got off the phone with treadwright. I will give the an A+++++ is customer service.
They are sending me a new tire and offered to pay for any damages cause by the tire exploding. I told her my fender well got tore up pretty bad and my wheel was ground up on the edge where it was on the pavement. The lady said take pics and send us the bill. Wow thats some great service.

Good for you, if your just trying to continue to stir up shit you can move on, this is not a thread to fight about new vs capped and the OP is not looking for your input on new tires

all i was saying is i run on retreads everyday and am not opposed to using them. if they are safe enough to haul 80,000 lbs i think they are good enough for our little trucks

I'm not sure I would unnecessarily risk my life or the lives of my family or other drivers by being a cheap-ass and buying a tire that's been re-treaded, I don't care who retreads them. What's the difference in price... another $4-600? Save up, or whatever. Next to steering, damn, I believe tires are the most important performance component of any vehicle. "Hey honey, look at these not-so-new tires I bought to put on the truck. Yep, they're re-treads but don't worry, you and the kids will be safe. They make my awesome 4X4 look good though, don't they?!"

Don't risk it... don't be cheap. Just my opinion. Now let the cheap-ass flamers begin.

 

these tires are better than my bfg at tires...i made the CHOICE to buy tires from tw....they have been better than any other tire i have ran...talk all the shit you want...but you have NO CLUE what the fuck you are talking about...i have never once fely unsafe or regreted my decision to buy them....if i could do it agin...i still would have bought these.

 

Are you just a little slow? Nobody cares about your input on new tires. If you want to make a thread debating new vs capped go ahead, that is not what this thread is for

Great customer service! I have had plans to purchase a set once the existing tires need replacing.

 

There is no reason to resort to name calling here. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I did a ton of research, not only user reviews, but NHTSB studies on retreaded tires. There is no difference in the failure rate of new vs retreaded tires. Any tire can fail.

I chose to use the Treadwrights, not because I cannot afford virgin tires, but because I wanted to see, first hand, how they performed. I also wanted to make a positive environmental impact by re-using a potentially discarded tire casing.

Your implied accusation of my not caring about the safety of my children and family is neither warranted, nor welcome. In the future, I would keep such opinions to yourself, especially in regards to a subject of which you clearly have no knowledge.

and it was $750.00 more but that who cares. Ive bought tires for $1500.00 and had one blow apart.

OK, OP, be cheap if you want to. But funny, I've probably bought--hmm--I don't know, maybe 30 sets of tires over the years. Maybe more--all new because I'm not cheap. And, hmm, I've never had a tire failure. I like my odds. Drive safely.

BTW, how much time and money are you saving? That's what I thought.
