tweeter recommendations

Going to change out my speakers finaly and need some new tweeters for the front door of my 2009. Any suggestions??? I have looked at crutchfield and a few other big box stores and no one carries just tweeters. What do you guys run if you dont have a component sets.

 

Check Madisound and Parts Express. They sell individual drivers.

However, I have to ask what your plan is with the system as a whole and how you're hooking everything up.

 

I have 2 pairs of 6 1/2" for the doors. Going to replace the stock 6X9's in the front with 6 1/2s and wanted to replace the stock JBL tweeter int he front doors. I also have a 8' JL w3 to go behind the rear seat and the kenwood DNX8120 as a HU. I will probably run a small amp to power the front door 6 1/2 and tweeters. Thinkng maybe a 75watt X 2 channel amp for the front and leave the back door 6 1/2s powered from the HU which says it runs 22 RMS per channel i think. That shoul dbe enough to power the rear doors. DOnt need it booming but do want it to sound good.

 

Since you're planning on running the tweeters and 6.5" midbass speakers for the front doors off a two channel amp how are you going to crossover the speakers? Do you have a passive crossover to use with them? If you don't run a crossover you'll blow up the tweeters instantly.

 

good call never thought about that....still pretty new to the stereo stuff. I just wanted the tweete to increase the highs a nd make the sound a little "brighter" and since I am not running componets I thought this would be a simple job

 

My dad has some Cerwin Vegas and they sound pretty good

 

i would say balance the front pair with a matched set with driver tweeter and crossover like boston acoustics or a less expensive route with the kicker ds component series. the boston sr or sl series only. all the others are low to middle line. the kicker ds series sound really good for the money, and will take what u giv. boston is about as good as it gets.

 

For the price....nothing beats this set...nothing....not even DIY
