I'd put up with shipping nuisances to live in Hawaii.

They had no choice but to raise wages and that came at the cost of the cuts. Those jobs would have been cut anyway if they weren't needed. The hands behind the wheel can't be replaced affordably right now. I doubt if UPS or any shipping company will see the volume and revenue they previously saw.

I sent my son some stuff USPS overseas on his first deployment, that stuff went back and forth overseas for 4 months. It finally showed up back at my house a month after he came home.

In the last few years I’ve noticed a marked decline in quality of service from UPS, Fedex and USPS, the degree of which has varied by area for me. From distribution warehouses to door to door couriers/drivers, the quality of service is all over the map. Needlessly redirected packages for days at a time, fraudulently marked delivery attempts that were never made (constant camera monitoring of porch/driveway/house confirming this several times), packages being simply destroyed, trucks that have my package on them being two buildings down on my street leaving and not making a delivery attempt at all but claiming inability to access delivery location, etc. Same with Amazon.

I don’t trust any of them anymore (barely did before to be honest). I’ve had a lower “failure rate” when setting the delivery to be dropped off at a Whole Foods (Amazon), Access Point (UPS), or holding for delivery at the post office. Doing this eliminates one failure point in the chain and is at least a little bit of insurance against their ineptitude.

Recent order coming from KC, was shipped to Kentucky then to Calif. They went 3x distance out of the way instead of heading west from point of origin.
