new owner, 2016 Tacoma. Cannot connect USB cable to my IPhone 6. "Connection error consult owners manuel" Bluetooth works great but can't use as an iPod. Anyone run into this problem? If so is there a solution?

Use an apple certified cord not a junk cord from Walmart?

I just ran into this issue last night with a certified Apple cable that I have been using for years. I tried with a different Apple certified cable and it works fine now. Problematic cable has no external visual damage. The cables I use are the ones that come with the iphones. Thought I'd post this in case it helps someone out since I haven't seen a "solution" to it posted for this thread.

These heads are very temperamental. Basically crap. Try a more modern iPhone as a test. Does Bluetooth work?

My 2016 started this last night, and does it with all 3 Apple cables I've tried, which all work fine with computers.

Did anybody ever figure out the issue/solution? Thanks.

I've replaced the USB port in other cars (2013 Subaru) but that was because my daughter was removing/replacing the cord a few times/day. My Tacoma has had the cable plugged in almost the entire time I've had it. So it shouldn't be wear & tear on the connections.
