so i just installed a kenwood hu in my taco. its got the bells and wistles, aux, usb and handfree phone. i filled up a usb drive with about 1000 songs. i go out to my truck and about the first 250 songs actually play. i can scan through all the artists but i cant click on about 750 of them!? i thought maybe they were different files but i took them all out of my itunes so... wtf? anyone else run into this problem or have any ideas i can try? thanx

Purchased songs are in AAC format so you will need to convert to mp3 I would think.

x2. I believe iTunes store songs are in mp4 or m4p (dont remember which) and it needs to be converted to mp3 to play.

Hmm thats weird, I would suggest just converting them to mp3 on itunes and trying it again.

Email kenwood support, they've been pretty good about answering my questions in relative short order. I know, according to the local kenwood rep, "fancy" usb drives tend to suck. The cheapest USB drives, with just your files on em and nothing else, tend to work perfectly. Mine doesn't recognize my 16gig sandisk at bootup, I have to pull it out and put it back in. MOST of the time. Sometimes it starts playing right away - go figure.

figured it out. the deck only accepts about 3 gigs of music on a usb.... so i lessened the songs down to like 2.9 gigs and it works great, thanx everyone...

The more I play with the USB stick option, the more I'm thinking getting an ipod and ipod interface would be a smarter way to go.

i found on my kenwood that if i played off a usb, the menus were a lot harder to go through and was slower to load music and surf through than if i used the same usb port and hooked it to my ipod with the correct cables. ipod ran much better on it and there was no limit of music i could have
