My new Tacoma Limited comes with a USB-C port on the side of the Multimedia Display. I plug my phone into it. No problems there. However, I tried plugging a flash drive with music on it into the USB-C port. Then go to Music Sources to select USB source. It's nowhere to be found for selection. I have .MP3 and .WMA files on the drive. The manual says this is supposed to work.
Also, the manual does not get into how the flash drive should be formatted (like FAT32, exFAT), nor what levels of flash drive (2.0, 3.0) are supported.
Any experts out there know what might be happening here ? Thanks

I have a thumb drive with some MP3 files on it. When I go to source , I select the USB and it plays normally.

That's nice for you. That's how it's supposed to work. Unfortunately, that's not helpful.

Older models had a restriction on how large a drive you could use. My 2013 won't recognize a 64GB but works with an old 8GB I had kicking around. Fat32 format. I would have expected them to update that.

    Yeah.
LOL, I just found that as well. Here's a pic. Basically this is the same as my 2018.

gr8-wrx, thank you so much. My issue must have been the 32G limit as well as the format (not FAT32) of previous flash drives I was trying. I have since obtained a 32G Sandisk formatted as FAT32 and it's all good. Very happy.

I really appreciate mine because it came in physical form and not a PDF I need to download. That day is coming. Or you will need to read it on the infotainment screen that stopped working.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Sandisk flash drive that is working for me is also generation 3.2, not 2.0. FYI
