I'm a little bit pissed and disappointed. My 2008 with only 130k is starting to throw blue smoke on startup, indicating the valve stem seals are worn. I do not race this truck around and other than passing someone on a two lane road, the engine rarely lives above 3,000 RPM.

How hard is the job to replace the seals? I'll be honest, I'm an accomplished shade tree mechanic, but I've had horrible luck working with valve trains. I'd rather swap out the entire engine than touch another head gasket.

How about dealership costs? I'm guessing somewhere between $1,200 and $2,000 since I've got the early 1GR timing chain cover leak as well.
