Hey Tacoma lovers! My name is Tim and I'm coming here today because I feel exhausted trying to find my vibration for over a year now. Keep in mind that I have almost 270000 km on it, 6 speed manual tranny.

For a while I thought it was my drive shaft but yesterday I took it off and started the truck and reved it. Only to find out that even without a drive shaft I had the damn vibration... is it the tranny? Motor?

Please help me people! Thank you in advance

Check the heat shields mounted to the floor above the catalytic converters are not rotted out and vibrating

Alright I'll check the mounts and shield. I got a call back from the shop and I did have a loose in the splines of the drive shaft. So that's one thing figured out.

Welcome to TW! A few inexpensive and easy to install vibe fixes are the carrier bearing drop kit and axle shims.

He's referring to rear axle shims. They are a common fix for driveline vibrations after lifting. Can you give more details about the vibrations that you're experiencing? Do you feel it in the steering wheel? Through the floor? All the time or only at certain speeds? Are you lifted or stock height? If lifted, did you only notice the vibes after the lift was installed? Does it go away when you switch to 4WD? All very important things to note when trying to diagnose vibrations in these trucks. Welcome to TW btw!

EDIT: Just noticed you said you still have vibes with no driveshaft while idling, as others have mentioned definitely check motor/ tranny mounts. I doubt the exhaust heat shield would cause actual vibrations but it will rattle like hell if it's loose and you'll hear it.

I do have a leveling kit on it, 3" front and 2" back.
I mostly feel it through the floor, it like 2 kind of vibrations. One at high speeds that make the rear view mirroir shake like it twerking on steroids and one when i come to a stop around maybe 40-30 km/h like a 3 good shake under the seat, it feel like the shaft would be out of balance but its not.

I looked at the mount under the tranny and it look saggy but not cracked. Will update you when i look at the motor mounts.

And The vibes started a while after i installed the lift so im not sure if its that of just wear. And if i remember correctly it still does it when on 4x4 but I will confirm.
