That's a really long drive. Did you get to see any of the lakes down there? There are some nice ones.

Well I saw some of them but was more interested in getting down there & getting home. The water was over Flood stage near the river and the highway was almost overflowing. With all the rivers flowing down there.

Oddly, as much time as I've spent in the Southwest, the only time I had a Diamondback encounter was near Benson a few years ago.


Took two steps out of the trailer on BLM land, heard the rattle, and there it was. I've seen Mojave Greens in SoCal a few times.

 

I lived just south of Benson. Ran across a lot of them in my time there. Visited there a few years ago and hit up Slaughter Ranch. Almost stepped on one.
