I dont venture into that crazy of stuff. Worst that can happen is I stuff my truck in a ditch one night and have to stay in it for the night. My doors, floors, and rear wall are all insulated with 2 layers of duct insulating foam which helps keep heat in a bit.

 

If they found me dead wearing that hat it was worth it.

 

I’ve had candles keep me alive. Not gonna lie. Yeah, good insulation is a must when the wind picks up bad.

so about like Walmart? Majority of people in Us live within about 15 miles of a Walmart.

I think we have them closer to 10 or 12 miles apart around here.

Not saying bad things cant happen but we dont get that stupid cold stuff you get. We can occasionaly get into the negatives (°F) but usually just over night and is for a very short period of time. I always travel with a full tank when it snows and if I'm snow blowing driveways I have about 2.5 gallons of spare fuel. Most roads I go down in the winter are well traveled so they usually get cleared in a reasonable amount of time and not really by myself. If I get stuck on the roads my co workers plow I might be able to hitch a ride with them


When we get closer to winter I'll be putting my Carhartt work overalls and jacket in the truck along with everything else.

 

No joke indeed.

Story Time With Gritto

About 25 or so years ago one January we had a polar vortex down here.
I think that was the first time I heard the phrase.

Anyway, it was 20 below (Fahrenheit) with a foot of snow on the ground.
And I decided to go hunting that day, in an unfamiliar area.

I trudged through the snow awhile, got heated and sweaty and sat down to have a smoke.
By the time I finished my smoke, I was beginning to feel very cold.
And then it started snowing.

Shit, I better head back.
Soon it was snowing harder.
By now I was getting alarmed, and was worried that the snow would cover my tracks.
Things like that concentrate one's mind... or should, anyway.

That's the only time I recall ever being afraid in the woods.
