So stuff happens every now and again.
    Hanger bearing and u joint.
I grease my u joints regularly but if the grease fitting fails this is what happens. Oh well happy Halloween

Took advantage of our nice December weather and put some needed shoes on the truck. It was a quick and dirty job so no time to clean up everything . Lol.

So I recently did a trip to the James bay winter road and found out quickly I was not prepared for that. So I will make the adjustment to my truck hear in the build thread.
hear is a list of things that I would like to have done b4 next trip 2023

    1. Dual battery set up
    2. Insulate the truck cap and floor
    3. mount air compressor inside the truck cab change hose to rubber and get a air gauge that will work at neg. temps
    4. mount the diesel heater in the truck cap and plum the exhaust out side
    5. install inverter in truck for back up power to cook with electricity
    6. change all oils to synthetic
    7. my ol' nemisis- mud flaps on all 4 wheels
but first get some bed stiffeners and drill holes to bolt the cap on the bed

weather I'll be able to get all these things done or not 2023 is another try

hear are a few pics of the trip

Looks like a fair jag of work comin’ up. Be sure to have somewhere outside the cab to periodically drain that air tank. The water will freeze & get right gnarly unless you blow it down.

Well I got it from a very knowledgeable source (thanks CanadianJoe) you don't run any air tank in minus temps. You go straight from compressor to tire nothing in between.

I did run into a 1 in a million chance (just guessing) of needing an air tank this past summer. Red Tacoma left front tire bead folded in and covered the valve stem from the inside could not air up and no air would come out of tire even with the valve core removed. Needed a larger volume of air to reset that bead. And I'll probably never need that again ever. Fluke.

It's about time to start building something new. Here's the start of my auxiliary battery tray. These things are super expensive so I decided why not just try to make one since I'm so cheap.

    Trun this clamp around.
    Then make a template
To be continued and this has to go on..

When I put the stiffeners in I noticed the bed was loose... Oh well. I'm thinking of using some mud flap material

I suggest something more rigid, but just softer than the bed. As it wears before the bed does, and you just keep replacing it.

I am on round 3 of mine.

I used ATV utility trailer, scraps. Cut to size. They make them at my previous employer.

Black plastic that is softer than the bed plastic. :argue:

The bed does sit on the steel frame and wears out causing the bolt to be too long essentially. @llamasmurf does this sound right? Then the material acts as a spacer? Wonder if any rubber could prevent the bed from wearing, and then using a shorter bolt? Obviously a bandage to a bigger problem of bed material choice but would that work?

Yep sounds right to me. The spacer just ends up wearing out for me so far. Just replace every other year? :notsure:

Fair enough. Better the spacer then the bed material. Still a pain regardless.

Decided to change a bad wheel bearing today. Of course I forgot to put the backing plate back on but it's all good.
