Window Vent thoughts?

OK, sorry if this has been gone over, but I did a search and got tired of looking after about the 4th page ...
Anyway, the window vents .. The kind that go onto the top of the door frame ..
I've always thought these looked dorky .. And since modern rigs don't have rain-gutters on them anymore (Or even window vents, as they used to be ... Like what we used to call 'wind-wings'..)
I'm the type that even when it's butt-ass cold outside.. Rain/snow whatever ... Heater on full blast .. I still like to have the window cracked a little bit, just because I like the fresh air.
Anyway, it's the same ol' thing with water dripping all over on the inside of the window sill/armrest and all over the buttons on the inside of the door.
So, even though I think they look stupid, I'd install a set if it stops water from dripping all over the inside.
So questions:
A: Will they work for what I want? Will it keep water from draining right all over the inside of the door?
B: There seems to be two kind. The ones with just the double-sided sticky-tape .. Or the ones with 'channel clips' .. but still have the sticky tape ..
The prices are just a couple bucks away from between the two, so don't care about that. Is one better than the other?
I just don't wanna spend $$ .. find out it doesn't really work .. And then remove and cleaning goo off the paint.
Thoughts? Advice?

 

I got them for essentially the same reason. As long as you only have the window cracked a bit, the water on the roof doesn't infiltrate as you drive away, but if you've got the window wide open you'd still get some drips inside. But better than before. The in-channel ones are lower profile and I don't think they look bad at all. I got the Weathertech but the other thread goes back and forth with AVS vs. Weathertech people so no need to repeat that here.

I do like being able to leave the windows open at least a crack and then go about my day without having to close them and open them again at each destination. From a couple of steps away you can't even tell the window is open. I say they're worth it, but that's just me.

 

I'll second this entire quote. I also went with the weather tech. I've had them in my vehicles for the last 10+ years... really since they started making them for F-150's. The weathertech's for the 2020 taco just slip in and so far so good. My buddy with an 18 3rd gen has lost 1 out of a back window albiet his kid plays with it. They replaced it, no questions, no cost as it failed and came out.

The air flow is decent with little noise if you keep the top of the window within the "height" of the guard.

Mine came with the Weathertech and I love them. (Floor liners as well.) I've had AVS on my last 2 rides and they were OK. I wouldn't go with out them.

 

OK, thanks guys. I'll go with what y'all say. They're not terribly expensive and I usually almost never drive with the window all the way down .. Just 2-3 inches. My main concern is just thinking that water dribbling all over the switches on the door is probably not a 'good thing' .. LOL!

 

I have the AVS ones. I really like them. I can have the windows down all the way at highway speeds and they prevent wind from blasting in my face (but I'm 6'2", so my head is a little higher than most).

They do help keep rain/water out pretty well too, just so long as your window isn't rolled down excessively far.

 

Weathertech in-channel. It's the only way to fly. I have on all of our vehicles.

AVS in-channel here. I like them and honestly they don't look bad. I don't like the look of them either usually, but the lower profile in-channel look petty good and do the job.

 

I use AVS in-channel vents and I ove them to death. Here in Texas I can crack all four windows down during the very hot summer months and during the frequent rain flurries to vent excess heat and humidity.

 

I installed the weathertechs a couple weeks ago and I’ve been really happy with them. I like the look of the in channels and they seem really solidly seated.

I have AVS in channel and they are worth every penny. They also significantly change the look of the vehicle.

 

I also have the AVS in channel ones, and they are great. I had the tape on Toyota ones on my 2007, and after awhile the tape wore out from UV heat, and had to be replaced. The AVS ones are more low profile as well.

 

Don't get the cheap weathertech clip on. They will blow off and then you have to buy a whole set again.

I have the AVS in channel and love them. I put Weathertech’s on my wife’s Mazda. The Weathertech’s are thicker and you can hear the window motor working hard at the window goes up when it’s near the top.
The rears are held on with metal clips and we lost one already. To their credit when I contacted Weathertech to order a replacement they sent a pair for the rears at no charge so there’s that.
So having dealt with both Weathertech and AVS I’d go with the AVS, just my 2 cents.

 

I have the AVS and my son has the Weathertech. If I had to do it again, I would go with the Weathertech. They look more sleek plus you don't have to deal with the double-sided tape. Just sayin!
