Thought this might help or at least prevent someone from getting hurt.

Warning first - the regulator is under spring tension and the motor is providing resistance even when there is no power. Removing the motor from the regulator can cause serious injury especially if it is a 3rd party non Toyota part that looks different than the original. My regulator lost its lift and the motor was working too hard.

Inspect the part make sure the wheels are in the track.

Symptom - Window would stop when rolling up. It would work again after waiting. The longer the waiting, the longer it would work for. It would roll 1/2 way up if I waited 1 minute it would close completely, if I waited only 30 seconds, it would roll up only an inch.

When reinstalling I took needle nose, reached back into the door and pulled the metal bar forward (toward the front of the car) perpendicular with the door. Dropped the latch on and used a small flat head to pivot the plastic clip back on.

Add: need to remove the speaker to get access to the motor connector.

Test before putting everything back together. The wiring polarity was switched on my motor. Had to cut and flip the wire on the motor and not the car wiring harness. Cheap ebay part.

My motor is probably good and there is probably a safety/thermal protector so it doesn’t crush something when rolling up.

Note : The original motor wouldn't fit on my new regulator

Note: The wiring can be routed different if not OEM. OEM pointed down, replacement was longer and went up.

I was actually wondering about this the other day. My drivers side front window went all the way down on auto and then when i went to roll it up it wouldn't move at all. I waited a couple min and it rolled half way up and then later it went all the way back to the top. After that one time i haven't had another issue. I am thinking my regulator is going bad as well...
